Every person is different. This means your needs in a counseling setting are unique to you. Dr. Myer understands this. She provides each client or couple with an assessment of their needs and goals. This information allows her to assist each person to create a research-based plan to help someone meet those unique needs and goals. This plan may include cognitive and/or behavioral therapy, DBT, Journals Therapy, Imago Therapy, or a combination of these.
We offer a group session where we go over the 5 Skill Sets of DBT. One class for adults, and another class for Teens. Classes are in the Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland Washington areas.
Adults will meet on Wednesdays 5-6:30. (Begins in September)
Teens (13 -17) will meet on Tuesdays 4-5:30.
The premise of Imago Therapy is to build lasting connections between couples and family members. This is done through understanding that a person’s adult personality is formed through a series of adaptations they made to live in relationships they had as a child. As adults, we carry those adaptations with us as we try and relate to ourselves, others, and the world.
WHAT IS DBT?
Comprehensive cognitive behavioral treatment.
This treatment focuses on problem-solving and acceptance-based strategies. It operates within a framework of “dialectical” methods. The term dialectical refers to the processes that bring opposite concepts together such aschangeand acceptance.
We utilize a video conferencing service called Zoom, which is a free app and is HIPAA compliant. It is as easy as downloading the free app, accept an invite, login to the invitation at the scheduled time, and visiting our virtual private counseling meeting room.
